Sonya Heineman Kunkel is an experienced special education teacher and an outstanding special education administrator with more than 35 years of experience working with students with disabilities. She has been honored with numerous awards including Inclusive Teacher of the Year in her state and is known widely for her dedication and passion for teaching students with special needs.

Sonya specializes in strategies and modifications for the general and special education classroom. She is the author of Accelerating Outcomes for Students with SPECIAL NEEDS, the extensive resource handbook each participant will receive at the institute. Additional author credits include Advancing Co-Teaching Practices: Strategies for Success and Co-Teaching for Administrators. Sonya is well known for her practical, cutting edge strategies and brings a sense of humor, enthusiasm and inspiration to her highly organized presentations.
