Dear Colleague:

By the time our students make their way to our middle and high school science classes, we know they bring with them an idea of what science is or isn’t based on their previous experience in the world and at school. We also know that their science understanding isn’t always positive or accurate. In this one-day seminar, I am proud to share with you many practical strategies, resources, and activities to help all your science students achieve at higher levels, and especially those with unique learning needs who struggle to understand the basic concepts of science or have misunderstandings and misconceptions about what science is. I will provide you with dozens of ideas and strategies to improve your struggling students’ learning and engagement in your science classes.

I plan to share the tools I have successfully used over the years to help and engage my struggling science learners in grades 6-12, dramatically increasing their interest and achievement. You’ll discover and practice strategies to help your students make better connections with science content, gain multimodal learning experiences you can use immediately, learn creative ways to demonstrate relevancy of science in everyday life, and overall help your students cultivate greater interest in learning science. In addition, I will share practical strategies to help you increase the success and confidence of your struggling science students in our post-pandemic classroom environment.
