Dear Colleague:

Teaching a child how to read is perhaps the greatest, most rewarding experience of being an educator. That “AHA” moment when the lightbulb goes on. You can actually watch the expression on a student’s face change when they realize that they just read a word and understood what it meant. This is a life changing moment! However, as educators, we know this happens at different times and/or stages in life for each and every child. For students with dyslexia, this “AHA” moment may not come as quickly or easily as a child without dyslexia.

Working with students with dyslexia can be confusing and challenging. Through attending this seminar, you will better understand the brain research about dyslexia. You will be able to use this information to create a course of action to profoundly impact the lives of all students with dyslexia. By understanding what dyslexia is, and what it isn’t, you will be better equipped to advocate for struggling learners. You will learn powerful strategies, activities and techniques on how to impact the hardest to reach students. Ultimately, what is best practice for students with dyslexia, is best practice for ALL students.

Throughout my teaching and professional career, I have taught hundreds of children how to read. I have also mentored countless teachers regarding how to design appropriate reading interventions catered to the needs of students both with and without dyslexia.
