Dear Colleague:

Give yourself a pat on the back! I celebrate you for continuing to grow your expertise on behalf of the students in your co-taught classroom. Our students are not the same as they were ten years ago, five years ago, or even two years ago. We are faced with the need to further explore best practices while continuing to provide rigorous, high quality Specially Designed Instruction in our co-taught classrooms. As co-teachers, we promote the principles of success and inclusivity, and are always interested in discovering new ways to enhance the learning experience for all our students.

In this one-day seminar, you will gain new tools, resources, and understandings of the principles of co-teaching and enhance what you already know. As a great colleague of mine once said, “co-teaching is like a professional marriage.” By attending this training, you will learn more ways to effectively collaborate with your partner to maximize your efforts in meeting the needs of all your students. In addition, together we will explore the key tenants of specially designed instruction, models of co-teaching, and student engagement strategies. You will leave this training with a toolbox of information that can be implemented immediately or be better prepared to plan with your partner. I will also share with you what has worked with me and what hasn’t worked for me in my co-teaching partnerships. You will have time to explore what is currently working in your school system, what challenges you may be facing and create plans for maximizing on the gift of having two highly effective teachers in the classroom.
