Practical Strategies

iPads are excellent tools for supporting your goals for differentiation and inclusion. But how do you manage a classroom full of excited elementary students? What if you only have one iPad in the classroom? How can apps help you meet the wide range of abilities in your students? How do you know which apps are the best?

In this NEW seminar, Anne Beninghof will share her iPad journey with you, giving you the best tips for making them work while avoiding the common pitfalls. Whether you have one or many, iPads can be easily integrated into your instruction to make it more engaging, individualized and effective.

iPads can be an integral part of your differentiation plan – especially when you have quality guidelines to help you. There are apps that are wonderful for struggling learners, students with disabilities, English language learners, and those at risk for school failure. Learn about the wonderful accessibility features that come pre-loaded and can aid in universal design. There are also apps that are wonderful for adding rigor, extending thinking and providing enrichment for students who are ready for greater challenges.

Anne has actively searched for the newest and best apps so that she can share them with you and save you the research time. (Just because an app is free, doesn’t mean it is worth it!) See dozens of creative examples of how Anne has used apps in more than just one way.  Walk away with ready-to-implement lesson plans that incorporate apps for whole group, small group and individual learning. Let this workshop save you time and money by insuring that you have the latest, best apps at your fingertips!

A Message from Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

I once reluctantly attended a presentation on digital natives. Reluctant, because as a veteran teacher with little technology training back then, I had decided to let the digital train zip on past me. Luckily, a colleague dragged me along, and life has not been the same since! I realized that my students needed me to jump on board as fast as I could.

Since that time I have started a weekly blog, begun a Facebook group, contributed regularly to twitter feeds and provided webinars. Most importantly, I began to try different apps – saving the ones that worked easily and effectively and deleting the ones that did not. I learned quickly that “free” does not always mean “effective” and developed a list of quality indicators by which I could judge the value of an app.

My colleagues and I explored various ways to use iPads in differentiating instruction, including whole group, small group and 1-on-1 interventions. We found the best ways to use one iPad in a class of thirty students, as well as effective ways to use multiple devices. I’ve spent hours exploring the app store, asking educators from around the country about their favorites, following technology bloggers and reviewing and identifying the best of the best in iPad apps for elementary classrooms. At this seminar I would love to share with you my findings!

Join me for an idea-packed day as I demonstrate the current, best apps for education. Whether you are technology timid or a technology titan, this seminar will spur you forward with exciting ideas you can use right away!

Sincerely,
Anne Beninghof

P.S. While I will share a conceptual framework for planning, selecting and implementing iPad apps, the majority of the day will be spent exploring specific apps that you and your students will love!
