A Message from Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

As an experienced special education teacher, administrator and consultant to districts nationwide, I’ve seen firsthand how highly successful special education programming affects positive outcomes for students. I have implemented these best practices at all grade levels. By collaborating for successful Standards-Based IEP processes and design, students with disabilities can experience success and positive academic gains as well as accelerated outcomes in the general education classrooms.

I designed this strategy-packed, two-day institute to share these outstanding techniques and strategies that promote success for individual students with special needs, in resource and general education classrooms and build infrastructure for district-wide implementation.

You will have an opportunity to examine standards-based IEP processes and IEP design and learn how to better align services so that they increase student success. We will explore Inclusive Collaborative Continuum service delivery models and optimum staff roles. Embedded in our learning, we will investigate numerous instructional strategies that accelerate student achievement and meet individual student needs through the use of highly effective Specially Designed Instruction.

You will have a chance to reflect on your own program and create a customized action plan. This plan will allow you and your colleagues to return to your district and get started right away with the best strategies I have seen in practice!

I look forward to collaborating with you and supporting your development of an expanded practical toolkit to boost your students’ success.

Sincerely,
Sonya Kunkel

P.S. The focus of our two days together will be on sharing practical ideas and strategies I’ve learned from my own teaching and coaching that I know will build greater teacher capacity and accelerate student learning.
