Dear Colleague:

We are working in an exciting time for science education. The new direction spelled out in the Framework for Science Education and the NGSS have the potential to significantly help our students and, through them, our larger society. My work with this new approach has been met with excitement and interest from teachers and students alike.

I am very excited to work with you for a day filled with tested, motivating and practical classroom strategies – many ready to implement – that will help increase student engagement and achievement in your science classes. Specifically designed for educators in grades 6-12, our day will be focused on highly effective tools and techniques designed to positively impact your students’ learning of science concepts through three-dimensional instruction.

During our day together we will explore practical strategies to effectively plan three-dimensional science lessons, whether adapting existing lessons or starting from scratch. In either case, we will design with real-world phenomena to engage all of your students and create an inquiry-focused classroom. Finally, we will consider the challenge of assessing learning in the context of three-dimensional learning and approaches to that task.

It is my goal to inspire you and provide you the tools to return to your science classroom and thoughtfully implement the resources and strategies shared at this seminar.
