A Message from Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

Students who come in behind often feel trapped in a cycle of failure and have sometimes learned how to use bad behavior to cover up their lack of skills. This causes teachers to spend large amounts of time on classroom management and discipline instead of student learning. These are your students who are either trying to disrupt the class, or sitting in the back with their hoods up trying to disappear. They are often the students at the bottom of your grading curve, and will likely stay that way unless someone like you helps them get back on track.

During our time together we will look at different ways in which you can help these struggling students to not only get caught up with their peers, but to become more confident, engaged and motivated. We will review useful strategies to help these students to stop disrupting and begin to participate in class as a team member and contributor to the lesson. We will explore effective techniques to give you more time during class for individual conferencing, formative assessments and feedback.

I know how valuable your time is. You'll leave our day together with strategies, techniques and resources to help your struggling students rediscover success.

Sincerely,
Laurel Pederson, M.Ed, Ed D

P.S. You will leave this engaging, multi-media, fast-paced day with an extensive resource handbook that will serve as a valuable toolkit for you! It is filled with strategies to help your students be more successful in your classroom now and in the future as well
