Dear Colleague:

Resilience and trauma seem to be "buzzwords" in education. But we've known for decades that students (and staff) come to school with baggage—things that could potentially enhance as well as interfere with learning and success. At the same time, we are continually learning more about the science and art of teaching and what contributes to the development of resilient, successful, competent, lifelong learners.

I want to share with you the best of what I have found works to develop resilience based on my extensive experience with experts, researchers, doctors, scientists, and master teachers over the years. We will explore a wealth of effective, practical, evidence-based strategies and interventions specifically for supporting the development of resilience to enhance students' perseverance, behavior and success.

There are SO many resources in terms of developing resilience in students, yet so little is often shared with educators. I want to change that trend! For instance, we know relationship is a key to helping students with adverse experiences and to supporting their future resilience, but do you know what in the relationship or what kind of relationship makes the difference? I am excited to share with you the most effective and highly practical ways you can develop resilience in your students.
