A Message from Your Seminar Leader

Dear Colleague:

As a technology teacher and integrator, the most powerful tool in my arsenal has become Google Apps for Education (GAFE). Google provides an astonishing array of powerful, FREE tools for teachers and students that can help you take your teaching from ordinary to extraordinary! Since my district implemented GAFE almost ten years ago, student engagement has positively soared.

As an experienced elementary classroom teacher, I know how precious your time is. I have designed this seminar to showcase the most useful Google apps and tools for use in grades K-6. I will be sharing with you some of the many ways to effectively integrate GAFE into your existing curriculum.

Among the topics I will be sharing with you during the seminar are:

  • The Best Google Tools for Grades K- 6
    Develop a solid understanding of Google’s most well-known office productivity tools. I will be sharing both technical instruction aspects as well as proven and engaging ideas on how to use these tools with students.
  • Google Classroom
    You’ll discover how Google Classroom will allow you to create a virtual classroom that makes it easy to digitally assign and collect work from your students. You will learn how to set up a Google Classroom and how to use the simple but powerful tools built into it.

You are welcome to bring a fully charged laptop with a Chrome browser installed or Chromebook computer, but it is not a requirement to attend. Your resource handbook and a specially created website will support your individual hands-on exploration of the ideas and resources presented during the seminar when you return to your school.

    This seminar provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to meet and share ideas with other educators interested in using Google apps and tools to enhance their classroom programs.

  5. Semester Credit Option:
    UMASS Logo Graduate level professional development credit is available with an additional fee and completion of follow up practicum activities.
